Job Description Job Description Position Overview: The role of
the Application Engineer is to develop competitive and specific
products for existing market segments or to conquer, in direct
liaison with the customer or final prospect, by providing technical
and economic support to customers and the sales department. It acts
as an interface between engineering, the application and
development laboratory, sales, marketing and customers. The
Application Engineer manages and carries out the tests of applied
products to develop the best solution in terms of performance and
costs, accomplishing technical requirements, policies, decrees and
normative. Customer visits, organizing and conducting technical
training on products and applications, are also the main roles of
this position. Job Responsibilities: Ownership of the development
of applications working directly with the customers to provide all
technical information, data, and application support required for
the customer, defining the most appropriate “Tecumseh’s product”,
requiring appropriate tests and analysis, approving the
application, and following the launch/implementation of the product
on customer. “Tecumseh’s products” includes fixed or variable speed
compressors, controls, condensing units, and complete refrigeration
systems. Aligned to the sales and marketing teams, planning to
visit customers for technical support activities and meetings
related to product selection, application developments, technical
requirements, approval, validation and market launch. Prospect
opportunities with customers for Tecumseh’s business subsidizing
marketing, sales and engineering on product development roadmap,
PRJ and other new products strategies. Ownership of product
sampling and sample evaluation programs and follow up, (opening of
the CS, for application testing in Tecumseh’s laboratory or at the
customer facility). Align to the laboratory the technical equipment
and specific resources needed for the application development.
Follow up the product development projects for which are
responsible, controlling and guaranteeing the progress of studies
and alert in case of deviation from deadlines and objectives. Can
bring expertise and/or participation in working groups within the
Tecumseh Group as part of global projects. Develop case studies,
publications, technical presentations, policy bulletins,
cross-references of products (compared to the competitor),
associated with customer presentations, lectures and seminars,
trade shows preparation and participation, and other technical
events for industries and partnerships. Seek information on trade
movements, market/competitors regarding technical issues,
contributing to the technological watch. Coordinate the
implementation of the product change in the market. Coordinate the
exchange of technical experiences between the client and Tecumseh.
Provide technical support to customers and users. Ensure the
follow-up of technical issues with internal departments (Product
Eng., Quality, Research & Development, Production, Laboratories,
etc.) Contributes to the company’s continuous improvement process,
particularly when dealing with customer complaints. Properly use
the systems and resources made available by the company to carry
out their work in accordance with the defined rules and procedures.
Have knowledge and comply with the standards, procedures or work
instructions, defined by the quality, environment, safety and
occupational health systems, according to their field of activity,
established by the company or the legislation in force. Required
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical,
electrical, electronic or HVAC/thermal engineering. Knowledge of
Sales, Sales Engineering, or other client-focused experience
preferred. Technical knowledge and expertise of commercial
refrigeration and air-conditioning applications, systems design,
and refrigerant properties, including selection, application, and
approval of both fixed speed and inverter-design variable-speed
compressors, controls, and other components inside the
applications. Knowledge of electronics and controls used in
commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning applications.
Required Skills/Abilities: Fluent professional English. Ability to
identify, interpret, and apply industry and client-test-standards
related to product design, performance testing, application
testing, agency approval, and regulatory / legal compliance.
Ability to analyze both internal and client-generated application
testing data. To identify and implement effective solutions to
resolve concerns and keep projects moving forward. Ability to build
solid relationships with clients based on strong leadership skills,
technical compliance, high work ethics, and trustworthy. Strong
technical writing, verbal communication, problem solving, and
collaboration skills. Strong organization skills and ability to
manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously. Strong
computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft applications
including database and collaboration tools. Additional Information
Travel: Estimated 10-25% required, mainly to clients supporting
Sales teams and technical collaboration. Physical Demands: Lifting
a minimum of 25lbs, occasionally. Position is a desk position. Long
